Leveling up

Post by NJDevil70 on Sat Jun 13, 2015 4:29 pm

Hey everyone. Some pointers in helping you level up early on.
1 - Choose skills that you are going to use. Using skills will help you gain experience, and the more you use them, the more experience you'll get.
2 -Crafting. Learning these skills will not only benefit you with XP, they will also help you in the crafting of much needed armor and weapons. The crafting stations that you will find are carpentry, Blacksmithing, clothing, alchemy, provisioning and enchanting.
3 - Do general quests. You will come across many NPC's in your journeys. Completing these usually easy quests will net you good XP and gold.
4 - Guild quests. Again good XP and gold. Plus they help with the development of your charcter giving you a clearer path.
5 - Explore the world. EOS is huge and there is so much to explore and see. You will come across many creatures to slay for XP and many other side quests.

Have fun!

I don't know if it's the case or not, but in the older elder scrolls games, you were limited to a certain number of skill books Such that it made more sense to save them until leveling a skill was very time consuming or difficult.

Hard to do when you are reading every book you can get your hands on, but this pays off more for your alts, because by then, you'll have read all the books so you can wait til your alt is levelled up before reading

You are correct that there are only so many skill books per zone. Once read, you gain that attribute right then and there. I have heard both sides saying wait until you are higher level to read the books because the XP gained then is better. And the other camp that say read as you find them. I can see your method of waiting later paying off on an alt character though. At that point, you will know where most of the skill books are.

Yeah, normally with a primary, i tend to just read as i find them because about 60% of my joy with ES games is the lore, 20% for versatility and skill development, and 20% for gameplay (let's face it...while Morrowind was fun, trying to hit an enemy with a dagger was futile for a while...swing at the mudcrab and hit about 1 in 3 swings if you were lucky until it leveled up to a decent level).

Yeah, it is definitely a to-each-their-own with the books. I wouldn't be surprised if there are people that don't even want to search books and bookcases.

I imagine that leveling up will be a bit easier in the mmo format because of the superfluous quest count and the fact that there is gear with enchantments/attributes that increase your skill gain with that weapon or armor in ESO.

ROFL ... those tanks with claws lol ... they can still kill you in numbers here. the ones i've fought so far are yellow so only attack when provoked or you attack their local bretheren, but they nearly decked me.

LOL! Oh I know! I pulled a total noob move early on by provoking a few. Needless to say I died and I was left staring at the screen in shock and awe. I think they remembered me and wanted to welcome me to EOS.

Leveling Fighter's Guild and Leveling Mage's Guild

Post by dudeserius on Sat Jul 04, 2015 11:58 pm

This, just in...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Leveling Fighter's Guild

  1. Kill those dremora (most commonly found in Oblivion Realms and links to them)

    • Example of early Oblivion Realm visit after joining fighter's and mage's guilds is the 2nd mage guild quest that sends you to pay a visit to one of Sheogorath's domains (he's the crazy guy that always talks nonsensically and has you solve very weird riddles
    • Hover around the anchor spots and grind (particularly ones that are heavy with other people as you will finish them faster Smile

  • Lay undead back to rest

    • One awesome place is that first house Indoril quest where you have to find that crown from the undead Indoril guy in the Davon's Watch city - There's always people in there so it's quick to kill him and all his little buddies. Sorry for those of you not in the Ebonheart pact...that's the only alliance i've created characters in so far

    Mage's Guild

    1. Read every shiny scroll, book, bookcase, etc you can find. This is your easiest route to leveling it up until you can purchase skills from mage guild skill line. My understanding is you can use their skills to gain some amount of exp, but don't take my word for it. I Haven't researched it a whole lot as the abilities don't help my main right now.
